The Carson City Computer Learning Center offers classes specifically designed for adults 50 and older.
Since 2001 over 1500 seniors in the Carson City area have been taught to use computers and online
technologies to enrich their lives and contribute to others.
The Carson City Computer Learning Center offers a low-cost, friendly introduction to using computers.
The Center's basic curriculum is comprised of lessons in introduction to computers, word processing,
how to buy a computer, file management, the World Wide Web and using E-mail.
Some advanced or special courses offered by the Learning Center include topics such as, internet/Email
Workshop, Microsoft Word, Genealogy, and Photography, as demands and resources allow.  Our Center
offers open lab time, with one of our instructors on hand, where students can use our computers to
practice their skills, or to work on individual projects.
At present our Learning Center has fifteen computers.  All courses are step-by-step, "hands-on" courses
with one student to a computer. The Learning Center classes are managed by senior volunteers, and
classes are taught and coached by volunteer instructors. We have found that peer teaching is effective
and rewarding for the older adult instructors as well as the students.
